"Mental Health & Stigma" Presentation

"Mental Health & Stigma" provides a basic introduction to mental health, mental illnesses and stigma; corrects myths; and offers ways to counter the shame surrounding mental illnesses. Putting this information into action brings us closer to a mentally healthy community for all.

To schedule this presentation for a 30, 60, or 90-minute program at your service club, church, classroom or discussion group, contact the Mental Health Coalition at mhc@mentalhealthlacrosse.org.

A slide titled "What is Mental Illness?" Underneath, in bullet points: "Common, treatable health conditions", "Biochemical — not character flaws", and "Can't stap out of it". To the right is a picture of a woman and girl playing piano.

A slide titled "Treatment Success Rates", featuring a graph showing that bipolar disorder, major depression, and schizophrenia have success rates between 60–80%, while heart disease and high blood pressure have success rates of 52% and 34%, respectively. To the right is a photograph of two men, apparently runners.

A slide titled "Myths & Facts". It reads, ":Myth: There is no hope for people with mental illnesses. Fact: More help than ever before to be productive employees, business owners and community leaders."
